There has been a growth on the number of grocery stores offering gluten free products. I thought that gluten has always been present in our everyday food consumption like bread and cereal. Then I looked it up that there are a number of people who have allergies from gluten. Gluten-free diet is also being recommended for individuals who have Celiac disease (An immune reaction to eating gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye.).
I managed to find some gluten free food products but I find it a bit tricky and somehow complicated.
When going to the supermarket make sure to read the labels very carefully.
- Make sure that the gluten-free label is approved by the FDA
- There are "gluten free" products that contain gluten.
- Gluten is also interpreted in a lot of different words, so if you aren't sure of a particular ingredient you must do a little research on it.
