Benefits of using Coconut Oil

Plenty of us want to try or cure our illnesses the natural way. Today, we are lucky that more and more household products have been discovered to be very beneficial. One that is becoming more popular is the coconut oil.
Coconut oil is an edible oil extracted from the kernel or meat of matured coconuts harvested from the coconut palm. (Source: Wikipedia)
Coconut oil has been found to be very useful, affordable and natural. But be very cautious, many health organizations does not recommend its consumption due to its high level of saturated fat.

Here's the list that I've compiled on how we can benefit from using coconut oil:
These are only a few, mostly for grooming.

GRUNDIG Countertop Grill by VMinnovations Review

I received this product free of charge from VMinnovations for product testing

Very light weight.
You can open it all the way and use both sides of the grill plate (as shown in the picture) or
you can close and lock it too if you're grilling burgers or steak.
Turning it on the first time was very easy. Power and temperature buttons are lit and labeled.
Just plug it in and turn it on. That easy!
Drip trays are included, for a messy basting like I did.
It was a breeze and a success. Lunch was delicious!

Economical
I highly recommend this entry level counter top grill (Retails $30-$40).
Counter top grill this size and wide usually costs $60 and above here in Amazon.
Classy and great gift idea.
Manipulation
Just plug it in, turn it on and choose temperature.
Even though instructions suggests to place meat in the middle, I tried if there was really enough heat on the sides, in my opinion it's the same. You can put more meat in this wide grill. just remember to PRE HEAT IT FIRST so that the heat will be evenly distributed.
CLEANING
As I've said I used honey to baste my pork ribs, it got hard really fast and I got scared I won't be able to remove it from the grill plates. Solution was just soak it for 5 minutes in a soapy water and it will get off easily. Don't use "steel wool" kind of scrubs as you will scratch and ruin the plates.
By the way, removing the plates from the grill was very easy too, as you just only need to push some kind of a small lever by the sides, not much force needed.

I'll give it a 5 at of 5!

Natural ways for a healthy, young, and glowing skin

Pretty skin secrets are no longer a "secret". Here are some NATURAL tips that I learned all along:

WATER
Every time I complain about any pain, headache or pimples, my mom would simply ask me me to drink water. Water has always been the solution for everything! Drink at least 2 liters of water a day as it eliminates black heads and fight dry skin.

VITAMIN C
Prevents early aging and dry skin too.

FISH OIL
Either dab it in your face or pop it into your mouth for a more radiant glowing skin.

VEGETABLES
At least eat one cup of greens a day. No explanation needed!

HONEY
Substitute honey for sugar. Sugar causes skin breakouts, not to say headaches too!

LEMON JUICE
A freshly squeezed lemon juice can be used as an astringent. It prevents excessive oily skin and clogged pores. Pour some in a cotton ball and rinse. You can dilute it in water first if your skin is a bit sensitive.

BAKING SODA
A teaspoon of baking soda and water can be used to exfoliate your skin. Forget those expensive brands!

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
I definitely recommend this for acne! When breakouts occur, pour some in a cotton ball and dab in the affected area, no need to rinse.

ALOE VERA
Tried it plenty of times and works like a charm. From burns, acne and scars. Just slice those sharp edges and apply it directly to your skin. Use a cotton ball if you want to apply it to your face.

MEDITATION
This one is my newest favorite. I just heard this from a podcast. They said that listening to "binaural beats" help you calm your inner senses. Try searching for it on youtube and give it a try.
Here's my favorite binaural beats sound.

Greek yogurt as a healthy ingredient substitute

When I was pregnant I always have yogurt in my diet. It actually helped me to over  indulge myself in food
as I was so scared to be over weight and have a hard time delivering later on. Right now there are plenty of yogurts to choose from, flavors are limitless! Then here comes the "Greek" yogurt, I was like what's the difference? Plus it costs a bit more than the regular ones. Is it because it comes from Greece? LOL! Well, now that I've started cooking healthy I saw a lot of recipes that requires Greek yogurt. So I looked up the contents and compared which is better and is it really a healthier alternative.

GREEK
REGULAR
CARBOHYDRATES
5 to 8 grams
13 to 17 grams
FAT
16 grams (7 oz serving)
5 grams (8 oz serving)
SODIUM
50 milligrams
100 milligrams
CALCIUM
20% of daily recommendation
30% of daily recommendation
PROTEIN
15 to 20 grams
9 grams

So now I see, there was really a bit of a difference. Except on the fat content which I believe is saturated fat.
Definitely keep away if you have high cholesterol or make sure to stick on"low saturated fat" and "fat free" options. There was also a slight low down on the calcium content which is an effect of too much straining process. Weighing it, I think Greek is my go to yogurt. Chobani (Greek yogurt brand) has a chart on healthy substitutions. This is a great idea to print out!
